Mick Bramham - Counselling & Psychotherapy

Weymouth Bay

My task as a psychotherapist involves getting to know a person and listening carefully to what is said to me - and hearing how each person’s experiences somehow make sense and have meaning within their life context. In my work: we discuss, think things through carefully together, see things from different perspectives, and also consider together what might help. Tears may be shed, but there can be laughter too. I’m open minded and not judging; neither am I intrusive or pushy.

I am an Existential Psychotherapist with a particular interest in how our lives are shaped by the society, circumstances and culture in which we live. I am an accredited member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) which is one of the main governing bodies for psychotherapists in the UK. I am also a member of the Society for Existential Analysis and of the Constructivist and Existential College. Don't be put off by terms like 'existential' - essentially, I respect your personal experiences within the context of your life.

I am a graduate of Regent's College School of Psychotherapy & Counselling Psychology (What is now Regent's University London). I have enhanced Criminal Record Bureau clearance and my training includes Child Protection and Safeguarding Children.

Most of my life has been devoted to further understanding and helping people with life problems, whether children or adults, and my wide-ranging professional experience includes the running of a crisis, counselling and advice centre for over 20 years (a registered charity working in business partnership with social care and health services). Here people from all walks of life turned for help; in particular, those generally considered as suffering with long-term mental health problems.

I speak and write about mental health issues and enjoy the simple things of life, including: woodland streams, the tranquillity of the natural world and walking a dog in the hills.

My fee is £60 an hour (Payment is easy as I have a PayPal account)

Some people choose to meet for longer, such as for an initial consultation - so 1½ hour sessions, for example, are at a cost of £90.

With couples-counselling both people are included in the one fee (£60 for one hour and £90 if choosing to meet for 1½ hours).
